@subheading Description

This function is used to access the host name of the current processor.  The
host name is set using @code{sethostname()} (@pxref{sethostname}).  The
domain name component can be retrieved and set using @code{getdomainname()}
and @code{setdomainname()} respectively (@pxref{getdomainname},
@pxref{setdomainname}).

libsocket's implementation of @code{gethostname()} overrides DJGPP's
implementation (@pxref{gethostname, , gethostname, libc}).  libsocket will fall
back the DJGPP's implementation when it cannot find the host name from its
additional sources.

If a host name has not been set using @code{sethostname()}, then it is
determined in the following order:

from the environment variable @code{HOSTNAME};

from libsocket's configuration file;
@item
from any automatic configuration;
@item
from DJGPP's original @code{gethostname()} implementation.

On success, zero is returned.  On error, -1 is returned, and @samp{errno}
is set appropriately.
