@subheading Description

@code{inet_aton()} converts the Internet host address @var{cp} from the
standard numbers-and-dots notation into binary data and stores it in
the structure that @var{inp} points to.

The structure @samp{in_addr} is defined in the description of
@code{inet_ntoa()} (@pxref{inet_ntoa}).
